Hastings, Ontario Hastings Village Marina July 21-22, 2016
Yesterday we only had 5-6 locks…the last one a double one in Hastings with a swing bridge the lock master rode on…thought I was seeing things at first!!! It was a much easier day and M & D were grateful. Mom even drove a bit since it was fun winding through well marked Trent River channels…Instead of looking at marsh grasses and vegetation along the shoreline, up here it’s lily pads and cat o nine tails, so lovely!!! (We understand at some point all that pretty vegetation will make dad crazy!) Since he will be going under the boat to pull this stuff off places, we don’t want it…Oh Well!
Another great day of chatting with the lock masters who are all ages, sizes, nationalities and both genders… The last one at Hasting’s even told us what slip we were to head for…can’t beat that for coordination!
When we got into our slip with the help of a couple Canadians boaters along with the dock master…(the wind, she was a blowin!!!) We were thrilled to discover we could get a pump out at our slip by the cutest “Honey Dipper” (girl scout name for whoever had latrine duty) you ever did see! And, they had excellent WIFI!!! Double bonus!!! Mom was talking to Penny to see what time, she, Marilyn & Lou were due to arrive. It turns out we had about 2 hours before their arrival, so I could get caught up on my blog. Wonderful! I was itching to show off some of M & D’s photos…Mom is going to have inspiration for a lifetime!!!
When Penny, Lou & Marilyn, (our Canadian friends who rent at Harbor Towers), we had dock tails on the boat before walking to the Banjo Grill on the waterfront here. It was a delicious meal and so great to catch up on what everyone is doing! They all looked terrific despite all their trials these last few months! All three of them were nicely tanned from all their golfing…while M & D haven’t swung a club since we started this trip. Trade offs!
After they left M & D got in another Downton Abbey episode between dad photographing our sunset…another blessed day! Especially for me, thanks to all the attention of the lock masters and our friends…not to mention, dog goodies!!! WOW, I’m loving this trip!
