Back in the USA... & Yes We Can See Canada from Here

Drummond Island, MI            Drummond Island Yacht Haven            August 10-12, 2016

We headed out about 10 AM since we didn’t have that far to cruise to Drummond Island, MI. At Yacht Haven they had a customs office making it easy to check back into the USA. It will be the weekend when we see Knot Sew Easy and Chasin 80 again.  It was sad saying goodbye even for a few days…

It was a quiet, calm crossing with not many boats or obstacles for a change…Mom finished another good book, “War Brides” while dad drove today. It was hot when we pulled into Drummond. Due to the heat & humidity it seemed to take forever to go through customs and get hooked up, even though it didn't take long at all.  I wanted my AC! We found out later, we could have gone over to the beach behind the Marina Office and go into the water... RATS!

Calling this place a haven is a bit of a stretch, but as always the people are nice and it feels good to stay in one place for a couple of days at least.
Can't get over this beautiful azure water even by our dock.
Jim's cleaning 4th Quarter while Syl did laundry

Our view out from where we came...

The Ship's Store and Marina Office

Boat storage and some of the cabins that can be rented up on the hill behind them

They have a courtesy car mom and dad can take into the tiny town if you can call it that? Mom heard that there was a good Mexican restaurant, Ester's and they haven’t had Mexican in awhile, so M & D will definitely go in for that!

M & D did have docktails on the dock last night with 4th Quarter & Cutty’s Ark which was fun, especially, since it cooled off nicely after a very, hot day!
(Yep, we have gotten spoiled by the more moderate temperatures up here!)
Have to say we haven’t missed seeing TV at all except for weather, morning news & now the Olympics…

As mom told someone, it was so funny in Canada, our Canadian friends and even people we met going through the locks are totally engrossed in our current political struggle…We kept telling them that we were thrilled not to have to listen to it all. When we had/have internet we catch up with it which is more than enough for us!!!

We all enjoyed watching the news as we ate breakfast this morning. Lonestar is coming in today, so they will go with M & D into town tonight. Dad was able to cancel our DeTour, MI reservations, so we could go straight to Mackinaw Island…Lots of loopers will be there, so it will be fun!!! The ride over maybe a challenge depending on the storms in the area…we maybe moving out of here really early to try to avoid them.

Mom was so intent on cleaning the inside of the boat today, I had to stand there staring at my water bowl forever before she noticed.GEEZ! What’s a Princess suppose to do?

Lonestar made it in this afternoon and 4th Quarter decided to stay too, so mom and dad left me to go out to eat with all of them. they said the island was pretty as they drove around trying to figure out where to eat. They all agreed that Mexican sounded good, but when they found out there was no alcohol that ended Ester's. Jim & Syl remembered that someone had recommended another place, so off we went to The Pins Bar & Grill.

Steve decided that moving the seat was way too easy

OH NO WE WON"T GO!!! No booze really???

Jim finding the next place for us to go while Steve and I cheer him on...

We really did have a fun and delicious pizza and salads!

They obviously had a good time and I got a tiny bite of their yummy leftover pizza…

M & D are sitting here laughing at a rerun of "Life in Pieces" on TV…It’s raining and I’m just thrilled to have them home!
