ON the Boat Again...After Wedding & Family Time...

St. Joseph's, MI                    West Basin Marina                              October 1-2, 2016

I was so surprised when Mom and Dad came into Bek and Milena’s house the other day! I was SO EXCITED!!! They had so much to show and tell me between grand baby Ella and Abby and Emmy’s Colorado wedding!
They said the wedding was incredible with spectacular looking brides & views, weather, fun attendees, fabulous food/drink and all! It was truly a whirlwind weekend event! …despite Lori and Ed putting them to work!
(Inside joke, mom said!)
Some of the neighbors we had to watch out for when driving...

Moak Lodge easily slept 18...it was so incredible!

We couldn't believe how tame the elk were...this happened on the side of the road
Newlyweds, Dylan & Mary Bateman that we got to see for lunch...they give me hope for this generation!!!

Lori and Jan thought of everything!

On Monday following the wedding weekend, they were off to San Diego and were so thrilled to spend time with Katie, Mike and Ella…helping where they could! From the photos I have to admit she is pretty darn cute!!! Mom let me listen to her cooing on a video…she sounds like a bird to me??? I hope I get to meet Elise Charlotte one of these days, but I really won’t appreciate competing with her for the center of everyone’s attention.

Bill and Barbara Walsh once again traveled to Grand Rapids to pick mom and dad up on Tuesday night. Again, we owe them so much!!! Mom told me she slept so well being back on our rocking boat!!!
On Wednesday Bill took them over to pick up their rental car when the weather appeared too bad to travel this week. Plan B was coming to get me in Indy. While in Indy, mom and dad had a chance to go to Trader Joe’s and Sam’s to replenish ship supplies for the run down the rivers.
They really had a great time catching up with some of dad’s Sage cousins for lunch as well!

Caught up with Mike's cousin's Jeanne, Richard, Lary and Kevin for lunch...delightful!

Hanging out with Bek and Milena is always fun…they took us to see how hip Speedway is becoming…with lots of new restaurants including another brewery. Mom loved her Quaff On, Put a Fork in It Pumpkin Ale! They were really amazed at how much Bek and Milena have accomplished within their house!
Speedway is becoming HIP!!!
Big Woods Brewery
We can do that!
Enjoying dinner and beers with our girls, Bekka and Milena
Cool brewery!!!
M, D and I drove back to Moondance today. I started running towards her when I saw her…I had to come in and smell everywhere to make sure she hadn’t changed! Everyone is so thrilled about cruising again!
Salt Lick, a gorgeous Grand Banks owned by Hank and Janet have been stuck here as well. We have all decided that it is safe to move down to Benton Harbor or further tomorrow to get that much closer to Chicago. Both boats are staying at the centrally located Chicago Yacht Club. All of us are trying to catch up with different friends while we are in town…It’s just a matter of coordinating with them at the last minute which is difficult in the best of times!

Mom decided to bath me along with getting the boat organized for travel…UGH! I could have done without that!!!
M & D are enjoying one last dinner with the Walsh’s at the Yacht Club here tonight. Again, we can't thank them enough for all they have done for us!

Woke up to heavy rains passing through so Dad and Hank talked and decided to wait out the rain before getting things ready to leave…Think they will have to break out the heavy rain gear today…for warmth too…a bit chilly right now even for me!
It didn’t take long for the storm to pass before Dad, Hank and mom were out there bringing in lines and hoses. Turned out Lake Michigan along the coastline couldn’t have been calmer even if it was misty most of the way…
Not our prettiest morning to head out but the water was relatively calm

Sunset while we were eating dinner on board

The sun finally came out for our run into St. Joseph’s, MI “Rivera of Lake Michigan”. Unless we get stuck here due to weather, we won’t see much of it beyond the marina. We are eating on board with Hank and Janet joining us since the town is a good dingy ride or walk away…We had a good night with them before calling it a night, so we could get underway early.

Woke up to calm water and fog...beautiful...the Lake is suppose to be 1-4' swells...we will see...
Love fog even though it can be treacherous
Magical
We couldn't have asked for a prettier sunrise
