Poking Along on Our Way to Fernandina Beach, FL

One extra day here in St Augustine to avoid a bad travel day…still more to see and do so it will fine for all. Especially, since I get to nap while they are away… Well, once again things didn’t go as planned. They evidently had an AMAZING brunch at Maple St. Biscuits, but dad had a flat back bike tire (after he had just filled it)…
We have been having problems with that tire! Mom and dad biked all over town on that bad tire to find a new one… Not so much fun from what I understand, but they did get to see the city Entrance sign on I-1! WhooWee!!! The one place, Sprocket Bike Shop that thought they could help us couldn’t. They then struggled to find a taxi to take them across the River to Island Bicycle Fitness where they could fix it…(all the taxis here are economy size and don’t fit two folding bikes and two people). Who Knew?!
Fortunately, except for the strong winds it was a gorgeous day here…Even the pirate ship, The Black Raven went out loaded with school kids and pirates!!! ARRGGH!!!

A number of our fellow cruisers left about the same time we did today…It seems this part of FL isn’t so inhabited and it’s very, very flat…At some points we can see the channel and boats winding way ahead of us…It’s so green, lush and elegantly beautiful with tall delta grasses, the birds, cypress and palm trees all gently moving… Occasionally we see tall houses tucked way back into the tree line. Thankfully, many areas are wildlife sanctuaries or parks. Then, out of no where a bridge appears and more civilization with it. Listening to the Bob Dylan Pandora channel seems appropriate here…I couldn’t be more relaxed if I tried… When we go by all these houses both small and HUGE, we have to slow WAY DOWN, as it says in the USA article it really is like going miles through a school zone...but it gives you plenty of time to notice more...
